I recently had a customer come to me with an all to common problem.  A ring she was, for various reason's, no longer comfortable wearing was sitting in her jewelery box gathering dust.  Was there anything that could be done with it?

The ring was a nice enough 3 stone diamond ring- it looked something like the pione pictures below (image from diamond.com

The truth is, it is a lovely ring but not likely to be worn again.

So we removed the stones and created  2 seperate pieces of jewelery- hanging earrings and a diamond endant.

So now I have outed myself as a Star Trek fan.  I can not hear the word hdrogen without thinking of Counselor Troi floating in a creepy green mist.

But that is totally besides the point.

These earrings were a custom ordered request for Hydrogen atom earrings.  I think they were based on earrings from a movie, but I am not 100% sure.

Mazel Tov!!!

In the jewish tradition, a plate is broken at the official engagement ceremony to symbolize all of the dishes that will broken in the coming years the dedication to keeping a family together that will be a major part of the couple's new lives together.  For most people, the plate is broken and then the pieces disappear never to be seen again.  One recent client, a romatic chattan (bridegroom) brought me a small piece of the plate that he wished to have made into a piece of jewelery for his kallah (bride).

Did I mention he planned to give it to her the next morning and haded me a very roughly shaped piece of plate with very jagged edges just before I had planned to head to bed?

I think I came through pretty well though.  It occours to me that this project would be a good one to add to my list of courses and seminars.  It is only slightly harder than making a wedding band.  May I should put together a wedding jewelery package.

Bridal tiaras comming soon.
